We’ll miss ‘em when they’re gone!

I got to spend some time in a diesel Passat (remember those?) last week, as part of a sourcing project

I know that they're not meant to be part of our future automotive landscape but in terms of fitness for some purposes, it's really difficult to argue with the sort of economy you can get from them. I wasn't driving it like I stole it but I certainly wasn't hypermiling it either. Just a really comfortable family holdall that'll do 700 miles on a tankful. I think we might miss this sort of package when they're gone...
