#tesla
When I fancy a bit of a laugh I like to dip into that crazy world of #tesla social media to see what the fan boys and the haters are getting worked up about at that moment in time. I’ve got no skin in the game here and I’d never be mad enough to actually get involved with anything approaching an opinion. Objectivity seems equally unattractive to either competing side. However, while scrolling through posts like these here, it's easy to get distracted by all of the school playground muck-slinging and miss what's really going on: Tesla have built up the fiercest brand loyalty in the automotive sector, unmatched by any other legacy brand.
A lot of this is has got to be down to the brand’s challenger origins, born of its Silicon Valley roots and Elon Musk himself. But it’s also to do with Tesla’s ability to go high, (the simply brilliant Supercharger concept) or low; playing it for laughs, (fart-cushion function anyone?) or to sit anywhere in between. Couple this to the sense that you never know what’s coming next, (Cyber Truck or piling into Bitcoin) and I can see why a lot of the loyalists continue to find Tesla different, refreshing and all a bit edgy and exciting.
Is there any read across for other car companies? There should be, but what makes Tesla different is more than the sum of its parts and going all-in is just not an option, (nor probably should it be) for other auto makers. They’re probably much better sticking to their roadmaps, even if they’re understandably more than a little jealous of the armour-plated brand loyalty Tesla continues to enjoy.
