Our XJ-S in print (and online)
Doing some desktop research on our very own manual XJ-S turned up a magazine article from a little while back that has now been digitised thanks to Kelsey Media. Have a look here but I warn you it’s a proper rabbit hole… There was a geeky back story to this, in that it was a re-run of a test that had appeared in Whatcar? 30-odd years ago, the writers didn’t realise that until I showed them the copy of the mag that I’d found (pictured above).
It’s brilliant to see your own car in print and online - it’s even better to see some proper professionally-done shots of it.
The best bit though - was it beating the Porsche 944 the mag had brought along for context. Coventry One, Stuttgart nil. Same result as in the original test from March 1988!
There’s a semi-serious point to all this though, if you get a chance to involve yourself and any interesting car you own in anything editorial like this, make the most of it! It’s a great way of adding another chapter to the car’s story and when you come to sell your pride and joy it’s a great way of differentiating your “more storied” car from others out there. If nothing else you’ll also get some great snaps of your car looking absolutely fabulous.
